Howden Re brings together exceptional female university students to its Adventure: Exploring Reinsurance insight day

Howden Re welcomed 83 exceptional female first-year university students to its Adventure: Exploring Reinsurance insight day in London, designed to inspire the next generation of women to explore careers in reinsurance.

Selected from nearly 700 applicants, the cohort took part in a series of interactive sessions, including Reinsurance 101, a women-led industry panel, early careers insights, and networking with colleagues from across the market. Through a diverse mix of voices from across our market, participants engaged in a shared willingness to explore how our industry is evolving and what that means in practice.

Nadine Onitiri-Coker, Managing Director, Market Engagement and Strategy, Howden Re, said: “Bringing together such a talented and engaged group of students was genuinely energising. At Howden Re, we’re committed to creating opportunities that open up our industry and show the breadth of meaningful, high-impact careers available. Events like this reflect our people-first culture and our belief that investing in talent ultimately strengthens the market and the clients we serve.”

Charlotte Hubble, HR Director at Howden Re, added: “It was inspiring to see the curiosity, confidence and enthusiasm throughout the day. We’re proud to support initiatives that help more women see themselves thriving in reinsurance. By focusing on people, development and opportunity, we’re building a stronger, more diverse business—one that is better equipped to deliver for our clients, now and in the future.”

Denise Garland CFA ACA, Independent Non-Executive Chair of Howden Re, said: “What stood out throughout the day was the quality of engagement and the willingness to challenge and learn from different perspectives. Creating access to our industry and supporting emerging talent in this way is essential to building a more resilient, diverse market for the future.”

A big thank you to everyone involved in delivering the day, and we look forward to seeing these students apply for our 2027 Summer Internship Programme.

Howden Re is committed to widening access, building confidence, and supporting a more balanced, diverse future for the industry. While this event was designed to encourage representation and support women as they plan their futures, we welcome applications to all Howden Re internship and early careers programmes from talented individuals of every background who bring curiosity, ambition, and passion.
